BMW M electric sales may overtake conventional fuel cars by 2028
BMW has started a complete transition to electricity some time ago, and in this context, the company expects its sales of BMW M electric cars to exceed sales of internal combustion cars in the same category by 2028.
BMW M expects sales of battery electric cars to rise in the coming years and into the end of this decade, eventually overtaking sales of internal combustion cars.
There are currently only two electric vehicle models in the BMW M segment, the i4 M50 and iX M60. While the i7 M70 and i5 M60 are expected to be launched later this year, the German company is also working on a new version of the i4 with four electric motors instead of just two in the current model.

Speaking about the growth of electric cars at the press conference for the new M2 and XM, Frank van Meel, Head of BMW M Division, shared with us some graphics that show the German company's expectations regarding the development of electric car sales until 2030.
The graph shows that the proportion of battery-electric and fully electric vehicles will grow steadily over the coming years, and by 2027 these types will account for 50 percent of BMW M sales.
In 2028, the company expects sales of cars with internal combustion engines and hybrid cars to decline, in favor of fully electric cars, which will account for more than half of sales.

The German automaker expects that the proportion of electric cars from BMW M will continue to rise between 2029 and 2030, representing more than 80 percent, while the proportion of conventional and hybrid cars will decrease.
It is worth noting that BMW currently has no problems selling its sporty M-class electric cars, as it recently revealed that the i4 M50 was the best-selling car last year, with 177,257 units sold.
Some analysts believe that interest in BMW M electric cars will rise in conjunction with the company's launch of the sedan equipped with four electric motors instead of the two currently. Some previous reports revealed that the new version of the i4 M50 will generate 536 horsepower.
