The electric Kia EV9 redefines the SUV experience
Continuing its path towards fully electric vehicle production, Kia revealed full details of the EV9 electric car, the first three-row electric SUV from the major brands.
The launch of the EV9, which abandons the South Korean brand's conservative approach to new segments, marks the milestone for Kia as it brings fresh thinking, design and early technology into the segment.
Based on the game-changing Global Standard Electrical System (E-GMP). The EV9 ensures sporty performance, complemented by a targeted all-electric range of more than 541 km (approx. 336 miles), according to the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Testing Procedure (WLTP). An 800-volt super-fast charging capability allows replenishment of the EV9 battery pack with enough charge to power the vehicle for 239 km. (about 149 miles) in about 15 minutes.
Its many technological achievements include the Highway Driving System (HDP), available in the Kia EV9 GT-Line, enabling Level 3 conditional autonomous control in select markets. Also available is the Kia Connect app, which enables customers to purchase digital features and services on demand, giving them the flexibility to choose the features they want and continually upgrade the EV9's capability via over-the-air (OTA) updates anytime, anywhere.
“In many respects, the EV9 redefined the traditional concept of an SUV, representing the pinnacle of Kia's achievement in design and engineering,” said Song Ho-sung, President and CEO of Kia Motors Corporation. “The EV9 was designed with the intention of meeting the needs of the whole family, so it became The South Korean brand is a pioneer in providing sustainable mobility solutions, not only through its advanced electric vehicle engineering, but also through the many recycled and sustainable materials used in its construction.”

Design: Reshaping the SUV experience
Building on the brand's own "Opposites United" philosophy that inspired it, the EV9 reimagines the all-electric SUV with a unique balance of natural and modern elements. The design pillar of "Bold for Nature", which inspires the blend of elements from the natural and material worlds, has played a major role in shaping the EV9's exterior design.
The exterior of the EV9 provides a sense of calm, thanks to the development of electric vehicle features and components that keep pace with a new era of sustainable mobility. The car has a wheelbase of 3,100 mm, supported by a choice of 21-inch, 20-inch or 19-inch wheels. Measuring an overall length of 5,010 mm, a width of 1,980 mm and a height of 1,755 mm, it expresses a bold, contemporary look while maintaining its unique character.
The front of the EV9 is characterized by simple, clean lines and body surfaces, which are equally confident, clear and calm. Also highlighted by the "Digital Pattern Lighting Grille" and striking vertical headlamps, the EV9's signature "Digital Tiger Face" adds a futuristic visual look and feel. The Digital Tiger Face features two groups of LEDs in the shape of small cubes inside the bodywork adjacent to each headlight. The EV9's innovative Star Map LED daytime running lights (DRL) contribute to a new lighting experience and provide a dynamic and sophisticated light pattern, indicative of Kia's Digital Tiger Face for the brand's future electric vehicle models.

Notably, the GT-line features an exclusive 'digital light grille' that adds an element of dynamism and sophistication to its already impressive design.
In addition to its impressive exterior looks, the EV9 also excels in performance, with an impressive aerodynamic coefficient of 0.28. This has been achieved by implementing several advanced features. This includes Kia's first sculpted 3D lower lid, which features a convex shape at the front and a concave shape at the rear, along with aero wheels, and innovative curtain airbags integrated into the front bumper. These elements combine seamlessly to provide superior airflow control and improved performance and efficiency, creating an exhilarating driving experience for the driver.
